The victim’s body, which had been buried in Texas on February 7, 1974, was exhumed on March 23. Dr. Irving Stone at the Forensic Science Institute in Dallas County took impressions and photographs of the injured nose. After carefully cleaning the injury with saline, it was found that the markings were remarkably clear and deep, and could be compared with the casts of the suspect’s teeth.
However, even in the best case a few of the participants disagreed with the majority. It was felt that this justifies further study of the analysis of bitemark evidence. It was suggested that the disagreement may have resulted from failure on the part of some of the participants to spend adequate time analyzing the available information, but this hypothesis was unproven (G.
